Job Description

This is a fantastic opportunity for an enthusiastic person to work hands on within a high performing Consumables Engineering team. Our colleague should be capable of specifying, designing, developing, supporting manufacturing, testing and validating plastic consumables for the Ori Cell and Gene Therapy manufacturing platform. This will involve working with stakeholders across the business as well as close liaison with our development, manufacturing and commercial partners.

Key Responsibilities

  • Developing and implementing creative and innovative mechanical design solutions for Ori’s next generation consumables portfolio.
  • Involvement in all aspects of mechanical design from initial concept through to production release.
  • Generation of design documentation including specifications, technical drawings, test and assembly procedures
  • Ensuring design deliverables meet the required standards of functionality and quality, with a rigorous focus on testing.
  • Completing risk management activities such as FMEA’s with the wider team and ensuring that technical risks and issues are identified and managed closely and driving all stakeholders to deliver on time and to the required quality standards.
  • Developing V&V plans, creating test protocols, designing and delivering test equipment and ensuring robust testing and timely data reporting.


What would convince us:

  • Proven experience in design and manufacture of plastic consumables (ideally as part of an electro-mechanical product).
  • Strong knowledge of manufacturing techniques (e.g. injection moulding, heat sealing, sterilisation) of bioprocessing consumables. Experience in the CGT field is advantageous.
  • Working knowledge of Engineering design packages e.g. SolidWorks 3D CAD and PDM.
  • Demonstratable experience of BioTech or MedTech verification and validation.
  • Experience in the complete lifecycle of product development in a highly regulated industry.

BSc/BEng, MSc/MEng, PhD within an Engineering or Life Science subject.
