Job Description

Ori is looking for an experienced, highly skilled senior mechanical engineer to join our growing team, playing a key role in creating, analyzing and developing Ori’s manufacturing platform.  This role is critical in enabling Ori to take a technology to market which is designed to increase the availability and affordability of Cell and Gene Therapies to treat disease.

This role will report into the senior manager of hardware and interact with key stakeholders across the organization.  You will support the development and growth of the mechanical engineering team that is vital to the success of Ori’s products and company.

This role is hybrid. Cambridge, UK and remote working.

Key Responsibilities

  • Responsible for developing and implementing creative engineering solutions to solve complicated development challenges for Ori’s next generation manufacturing platform.
  • Responsible for all aspects of mechanical design from defining the problem and requirements through initial concept ideation all the way to production release and product launch with a focus on quality and manufacturability.
  • Leading and delivering project tasks within agreed timescales and budget, as part of a multi-disciplinary product development team.
  • Writing and reviewing complex technical design documentation, test protocols/reports and running/participating in design reviews.
  • Recruitment, line management and technical development of a team of highly skilled mechanical engineers.
  • Take responsibility for ensuring that risks and issues are identified and managed closely and drive all stakeholders to deliver on time and to the required quality standards.


What would convince us:

  • Proven experience in leading and managing the design of reliable electro-mechanical products through concept development and into production.
  • Proven experience in designing components and assemblies using a wide range of manufacturing techniques, materials and assembly processes across a range of volumes.
  • Proven experience in using engineering design packages e.g. SolidWorks 3D CAD and product Lifecyle management tools e.g. SolidWorks PDM/Manage.
  • Experienced in the complete lifecycle of product development in a highly regulated industry e.g. medical, nuclear, aviation.
  • Experienced in building and developing a high performing team.
